• The merchant can activate the Gift Card as a single unit or for larger unit purchases, such as, a corporate purchase of several Gift Cards.
• The card-holder presents the card for purchases up to the available balance.
• The merchant checks the status and dollar amount of the card through an on-line transaction process-the account number information is included on the cards magnetic stripe. Balance inquiry can be performed in-lane.
• A receipt confirms the new balance or decline information
